Robotics applications place high demands on drive technology. In addition to torque and installation space, repeatability, position feedback, speed, and appropriate integration into the existing control environment are particularly decisive.

Slewing drives can be combined with servomotors, holding brakes, and absolute encoders. This creates compact axis solutions for rotational and swiveling movements, in which the position can be reliably detected and reported back to the controller.

Rotational axis for an automated robot cell

In automated systems, rotary actuators can be used when workpieces, fixtures, or assemblies need to be rotated or pivoted in a defined manner. The compact combination of bearing and drive saves installation space and simplifies mechanical design.

In combination with a servomotor and an absolute encoder, the rotational movement can be integrated into the machine control in a controlled manner. For applications with higher speeds or particularly precise axes of rotation, high-speed bearings can also be useful.
